HARWICH MORRIS 2008 WEEKEND OF DANCE 4th to 6th JULY 2008
PROGRAMME UPDATE - posted 22nd June 2008

THE EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED FOR DANCERS - WE WILL HAVE 162 MORRIS DANCERS, MUSICIAN AND FOLLOWERS AT HARWICH

The 2008 Harwich Morris Men's Summer Celebration is taking shape and I am proud to publish the latest news of the event.
Camping is arranged at the Strangers Home Camp Site at the rear of the Public House. Campers (Caravans, tents, etc) can arrive from mid afternoon on Friday 4th July. The festivities proper will start in the evening with the ONION BAND playing in the bar. Folk (but not as you know it).

Saturday morning, after a breakfast served to the campers by the Cordon Bleu chefs of Harwich MM, the revellers will board two double decker buses at 10.00am and take the short trip to two local pubs to stretch their legs and take on appropriate lubrication. The two venues are the BRICKLAYERS ARMS at Lt Bentley and THE FAT GOOSE at Tendring Heath.

The Bricklayers Arms
The Fat Goose

From here we will move on to Harwich Old Town where we will dance at various locations outside famous pubs such as The Flag, The Stingray and the New Bell Inn. The prestigious dance spot is on the Ha'penny Pier. A buffet lunch is provided in the pubs. Tea and cakes can be purchased from 4.00 to 5.00 in St Nicholas Church. Then the buses will take us back to Bradfield at around. In the evening a feast is laid on in the Community Hall. This will be followed by a Ceilidh - dancing to CHALKTOWN.

Sunday starts with another breakfast from our excellent chefs. After a jolly jape such as a Quiz the weekend comes to a rousing finale with dancing outside the Strangers Home. This starts at about 12noon and finishes when the will to live fades on the faces of all present.

From humble beginnings the Harwich Morris Men's Summer Celebration has grown into an event that our friends attend year after year.
The pubs also stage singing sessions. And those who do not want to attend the Ceilidh can sing in the Strangers Home. But beware - the session is informal and lively.

The following sides will be attending:

Hertfordshire Holly
Heartease
Haughley Hoofers
Bullnose Morris
Frog Island Morris
Fenstanton Morris
Borderdash
Golden Star
Kent Korkers & Pork Scratchin's

Rising Larks
Plain Capers
and of course HARWICH MORRIS MEN

You've probably heard about the event. It's all true. Come and join the fun!!!
